Posted on 25 February 2026

A hanging parasol, also known as an offset parasol or cantilever parasol, is the ideal solution for creating flexible shade in your garden or on your terrace. Follow our step-by-step guide to safely install, use, and maintain your parasol, ensuring years of enjoyment from your durable investment.

Step One: Prepare the Parasol Base

  • Remove the base from the packaging and place it on a flat, solid surface
  • Ensure the surface can support the weight of the filled base without sinking
  • Lift the top part of the base and hand-tighten the mast holder

Step Two: Weight the Base for Stability

  • Fill the bottom of the parasol base up to the edge (approx. 140 kg) with a mixture of sand and water, optionally adding gravel
  • Add enough water to ensure the sand is evenly soaked
  • Reattach the top part of the base and mount the standing mast holder
  • Tighten everything securely for maximum stability

Step Three: Install the Mast Correctly

  • Insert the adapter (suitable for diameters 56–70 mm) into the mast holder
  • Ensure the grooves of the adapter align with the guides and tighten securely
  • Once the base is weighted, place the mast in the base and tighten the sleeve around the mast to safely secure the hanging parasol

Alternative parasol base

In addition to the standard round base, an optional granite parasol base is available (including cone and screw set). Simply attach the mast base or cone for a secure setup. watch this instructional video.

Step Four: Opening and Closing the Offset Parasol

  • Insert the adapter (suitable for diameters 56–70 mm) into the mast holder
  • Ensure the grooves of the adapter align with the guides and tighten securely
  • Once the base is weighted, place the mast in the base and tighten the sleeve around the mast to safely secure the hanging parasol

Step Five: Tilt and Rotate for Perfect Shade

  • Thanks to the double mast construction, the parasol tilts up to 45°, perfect for following the sun’s position
  • The parasol rotates 360°; adjust easily with the locking knob to prevent unwanted movement
  • The upper ball joint locks automatically when opening, allowing tilting without the fabric or parasol touching the mast
